A lot of people were saying that they had problems logging in so you were not the only one. I don't know what was going on because I didn't have any trouble... Perhaps the problem lies with some particular addon? I heard one report of someone not being able to log in until they disabled auctioneer. I'm not sure if that was really the problem or not because I have auctioneer and I was able to log in with it enabled.
At any rate, the next time it happens, I recommend the old stand-by, sure-fire fix: kick it if it doesn't work!
